Job Description
The Director of Marketing Communications leads the marketing communications team whose principal role is providing all marketing communications, public relations, and advertising services for the organization and destination. Responsibilities include:
Collaborate to develop and execute integrated marketing communications and public relations strategies
Support the sales, visitor information services, and administration teams with print and electronic collateral, advertising, specialty items, research, public relations/special projects assistance
Facilitate positive coverage from the travel media
Cultivate positive relationships for the business with stakeholder such as government, industry partners and local media
Assist with production of all marketing communications materials such as brochures, blogs, web site, advertising, quarterly reports, annual reports, and others.
Collaborate with the marketing communications team to develop the creative strategy and execute integrated marketing communications and public relations programs
Serve as the principal contact for advertising agency relations.
Serve as local news media liaison and provide business and local tourism-related information as needed to local media. Maintain local media contact lists and build relationships.
Collaborate with other teams, team leaders and the CEO to develop annual Business Plan and supporting budget.
Develop market research projects. Collect and interpret data on group and leisure travel consumer behavior. Oversee selection of market research firms and serve a principle contact.
Required Experience
Bachelors degree in Communication or Marketing preferred
At least 3 years experience in the tourism and/or hospitality industry
Supervisory experience
Proficient using Microsoft Office products
Occasional weekend and evening assignments
